Philosphical Real Talk Volume 2. (Part 1)

Aztec Creation Myth: A Metaphor

The Aztec Gods supposedly created the Men of Mud, the Men of Wood and finally the Men of Corn within the last 3 planetary alignments. With the approaching 4th one at the end of this year on December 21st 2012, if we look at this from a Philosophical point of view as simply a stage in our progression as a species and our focuses, what should we expect ourselves to have learned from these cycles come the fourth, and what should we be moving towards?

Men of Mud - Men were a mere part of the surrounding, no more significant than mud. So much a part of the Earth that they did not stick out and were not significant from everything  else earthbound and so crumbled into nothingness or disappeared into their surroundings so that they were not distinguished. We can liken this to Monkeys or perhaps the original Cave Dwellers that came after them as they are and were just another animal and are no more significant than any other part of the Earths surroundings.

Men of Wood - The new evolution of man constructs and builds and shapes the world around it (Growing and expanding like a tree), this species is not a part of the Earth instead they control the Earth, usurping their own creators and so they are destroyed for it.     Having no soul and no loyalty simply meant not having an appreciation for what their Gods had given them, or simply no appreciation for their surroundings, they did not consume they only built. We can liken this to the Iron age and later on where we were beginning to realize we could adapt our surroundings to us instead of adapting to our surroundings, this is when we began to build.

Men of Corn - The new evolution of man, the current evolution, becomes fixated with the world and the material so they seek to learn about it and consume it’s history and it’s resources and the knowledge left behind by the Men of Wood, who created the secrets to building. We are also obsessed with what each other have, what we are capable of doing and we can we offer that other members of our species can consume as if it were food, like the main crop of the Aztecs - Corn. The beginning of this culture started around the discovery of farming and agriculture, we began to neatly cultivate food for our consumption and that became our primary focus, to work and consume to stay alive, a basic animal instinct that comes from the Men of Mud. Our thirst for possession of the ‘real’ truth behind the world and to know that we are truly consuming what is correct, leads to Religions and factions that split which then cause wars and destruction and death as they all claim to know the truth. This cuts off one of our primary needs as a member of this Society which is a need for 100% irrefutable knowledge which we can consume, and actually succeeds in destroying knowledge through the claim of owning consumable knowledge. We destroy our surroundings through our consumption, and our need to consume, we poison the environment. Our obsessions with what is materialistic and having our systems of living based off of this, mean that the cycle of greed just keeps causing us to destroy to reach a possession where we can consume as much as we want and where we can consume more than anybody else. It is all a part of and based on survival of the fittest, one of the main and most important human instincts, with other needs such as the need to pass on a legacy for others to consume even long after our death.

If the pattern follows we will be destroyed because we have become too fixated with our surroundings and our creations, which we learned to make from the men of wood. Our own systems based off of our materialistic desires are ‘failing’, just in time for the 3rd cycle of man and the 13th planetary alignment to end.

The new men, the idea of being crumbled, or being destroyed is all part of the metaphor, the Gods are no more than a part of the human psyche that deems whether our current state of existence is good enough. We will surpass and transcend our current needs through our own progressions through them, the failure of one system and society will lead onto the next.

The next society:

The Men of the Sky - We take our thirst for knowledge and our power of creation and we move into the next cycle, finally unbound from the Earth whilst staying within it’s limits ready to perfectly mirror the ‘Gods’ or rather the perfect image of man itself, the image that we strive for in each of our own failures. This new society bases itself on maintaining its surroundings and making sure knowledge is sacred and not destroyed. Philosophy surpasses Religion like Christopher Hitchens stated it should, so that none of us claim to hold the complete ‘truths’ or the ‘facts’ but can actually dedicate ourselves to finding them without the interruptions caused by the arguments of those who claim to those who prove. It is about discovery and pushing forward past our limitations. It is about casting off the shackles of oppression to fly free as an individual as well as part of a flock so we can push forward together, but also find time to explore and discover and create by ourselves and develop by ourselves and follow our own interests. It isn’t just about consuming beauty and all things that are good with gluttony until they are gone, it is about preserving beauty so that it remains there for us to observe and still consume but not so as to take it entirely for ourselves. It is survival of the fittest on a grander scale, we need to focus on surviving as a species and not just as the individual, although the individual will always be a primary concern, and competition for leadership is necessary to make sure the brightest excel so that people can lead those not as enlightened or as knowledgeable forward so that we all progress, so that we survive and so the planet survives.

On the next installment of this segment of my Philosophy volumes, I will be talking about the flaws the ‘Sky’ ideology harbors and work on perfecting it and hopefully moving it away from any idealism that it my have. Thank you for reading.

Love Hip-Hop? Love Free Music? Then Read This!

Seeing as I’m not doing much at the moment, and I’m dangerously behind on blogging, thought I’d just take some time out to introduce you guys to some awesome free music you can get your hands on.

First off is this absolutely breathtaking EP by Sims of the Doomtree crew that serves as a follow up to his phenomenal album ‘Bad Time Zoo’. http://sims.bandcamp.com/album/wildlife - if you like any of the other Doomtree group stuff you seriously need to check out all their solo stuff, possibly one of the best groups of artists walking the Earth at this precise time.

Second is this great mixtape from Framework, found this guy because he started following me on Tumblr shortly after I just created this blog. So glad he did, I’ve been bumping this shit heavily since he released it. http://xframework.bandcamp.com/ (You might one check out his Tumblr as well, he’s got loads of great music you can stream off there: http://xframework.tumblr.com/ ).

Lastly is this wonderful mixtape from Quadir Lateef who I found through Brother Ali’s Facebook. An incredibly inspiring artist, I’ll be following him intently from this point onwards. http://soundcloud.com/quadirlateef/sets oh did I mention it’s presented by DJ Green Lantern? Peep this shit!

By the way, before I get any flack for this, I called my Philosophy section ‘Philosophical Real Talk’ for ironic purposes because of course a theory cannot be a definite truth until it is proven.
